Nigerdock trains 49 on vocational skills

Nigerdock, a member of Jagal Group has graduated the second batch of 49 vocational trainees from its Training and Development Academy. The trainings were conducted on the back of Total’s Egina FPSO Deepwater Project awarded to Samsung Heavy Industry Nigeria (SHIN).

The programme which commenced in May 2016 and ended in August 2017, produced 19 fitters, 24 welders and 6 machinists, who would be certified to international standards.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony, the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Engr. Simbi Wabote commended Total, SHIN and Nigerdock for their commitment to the Board’s Human Capacity Development Initiative (HCDI).

The Executive Secretary who was represented by the Manager, Human Capacity Development, Engr. Maurice Iwhiwhu Kelly congratulated the trainees on the successful completion of their programme and appealed to oil and gas companies to employ the trainees so their newly acquired skills would be put to use.

In his remarks, the Nigerian Content Manager, SHIN, Mr. Imo Kalu Imo said the company was proud of its Nigerian Content achievements on the Egina FPSO project and partnership it had forged with NCDMB.

Also speaking, a member of Total’s Project Management Team on Egina, Mrs. Amarachi Chibundu commended NCDMB for its support on the project and hailed Nigerdock for providing a world class training facility. She also congratulated the trainees and advised them to make good use of the skills they had acquired.

The Group Corporate Affairs Director, Jagal, Mrs. Joy Okebalama also spoke at the event and assured that Nigerdock will remain committed to job creation and development of local capacities and capabilities in accordance with the Nigerian Content Act.
